CAR MAJOR Maruti Suzuki has entered the premium luxury sedan segment as it launched the Kizashi in India on Wednesday. The luxury car will be available in manual and automatic transmission, which will cost 16.5 lakh and 17.5 lakh respectively.
Kizashi will be imported from Japan by Suzuki as Completely Built-Up Unit from the company's Sagara plant. Kizashi was first launched in Japan in 2009 and later it was introduced in the United States.
Interested buyers can book the Kizashi with an initial deposit of Rs 50,000 and the delivery of the car will begin in March 2011. Kizashi is being pinned against Honda Accord and Toyota Camry by the company and it will target the premium segment of buyers.
Earlier, the company did not have much to offer in the upper end luxury segment but with incomes rising, there has been an enormous increase in the sale of such cars. It is to bridge this gap in the company portfolio that the company launched the Kizashi in Indian market.
Kizashi boasts of a 2.4 litre DOHC J–Series engine that will deliver 178 PS@ 6,500rpm and a maximum torque of 230Nm @ 4,000rpm. It promises a fuel efficiency of 12.53 kms per litre.
Kizashi will be available in ‘Snow White Pearl’, ‘Super Black Pearl’ and ‘Premium Silver Metallic’ colours.
