Tata Communications has entered into an agreement to acquire BitGravity, to provide network for content delivery over the Internet.US-based BitGravity is a privately held company located in Burlingame, California, founded in 2006, and launched its services in 2008 after raising funding of $ 13.5 million from angel investors and Tata Communications.
Terms of the deal and size were not disclosed.After this deal Tata Communications (Netherlands) will own 100 per cent BitGravity which will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary Tata Communications.
Tata Communications in 2008, entered into a strategic partnership with BitGravity for licensing content delivery network technology and federation of networks.Tata Communications also made investment of $11.5 million in the company.The alliance allowed Tata Communications to enter the market with its own global CDN across Europe, Asia and India.
