Preview: Bangladesh vs England ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

IN THE 27th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, group 'B' teams England and co-hosts of the tournament Bangladesh will meet on Friday, March 12 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong under flood lights. England is one victory away from the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The English team will miss the services of their batsman Kevin Pietersen and fast bowler Stuart Broad throughout the tournament. Left-handed batsman Eoin Morgan has joined the team as the replacement for Kevin Pietersen, who has been ruled out because of hernia pain. Stuart Broad was ruled out from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 due to a side strain.
The English team started its Cricket World Cup 2011 campaign with a six-wicket victory against Netherlands. In the next match against India, they tied from a match winning situation. In the third match against Ireland Andrew Strauss and his team failed to defend 327 runs. In their fourth match against South Africa, the English team defended a meagre total of 171 runs and won by six runs.
Bangladesh, who has played three matches so far in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, won one against Ireland and lost two matches against India and West Indies. In the last match against West Indies at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on March 4, the Bangladeshis were all out for 58 runs in just 18.5 overs.

At this stage it is very difficult for Bangladesh to secure a berth in the quarter finals.
England and Bangladesh had played 14 matches with each other in the past, in which the English team has won 13 times, including one World Cup encounter and six sub-continent matches. The English team has lost only once to Bangladesh in July 2010 in Bristol by five runs.
England captain Andrew Strauss is the highest run getter in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 so far. He has scored 280 runs in four innings including a 158-runs inning against India, whereas Jonathan Trott has scored 222 runs.

Here are the squads of England and Bangladesh for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011:
